Joshua Jones lives on a canal boat with his dog Fairport and together they take trips up and down Clearwater Canal, delivering items and carrying out tasks for the folks at Biggott's Wharf and general having a fun time on the water.

When Joshua moves to the outskirts of Auburn, he awakens the curiosity of the sleepy town. They don’t know who he is or where he came from, but no one can shake the feeling they’ve known him for years. Despite his benevolence and selfless work in the community, some remain suspicious. Just what exactly is Joshua up to?

Kelby Unger is a young man from a dysfunctional family that lives with his girlfriend Amelia Gates and has sleeping problems with dreadful nightmares. He decides to return to Bisbee for the funeral and Amelia goes with him. When Wally has a nervous breakdown with the name of Joshua, Kelby is haunted by the evil past in Bisbee.
